Who has 2 thumbs and is keeping her local craft stores in business?
But seriously, between wedding projects and house projects, I should buy stock in Michael's and AC Moore. However, this could potentially be happy news for you, because I have an amazing DIY project to show! It all started with a little pinterest action:
I love the all white feel of the first sign, but I fell in love with the wording of the second sign. So, I decided to mash them together! This is what you need for the project:
White Canvas (pick the size that will best fit your letters), Wooden or Foam Letters, Craft Glue, Paintbrush, Primer (optional), High Gloss White Spray Paint
And here is what you do:
Step One-Arrange your letters on the canvas. I tried it like seven different ways before I liked it enough to start measuring and gluing. I also decided to spread it on to 2 canvases so that it didn't look too squished. Good thing I bought the 5 pack of canvases.
Step 2-Use a ruler and pencil to measure out lines to follow when gluing the letters on. It was much easier to keep them straight.
Step 3 (optional)-I decided to prime the dark brown letters before spray painting them. I did this step in my workshop, aka on a trash bag, in the middle of my family room floor watching re-runs of the Real Housewives.
Once the primer dried, I took them outside and spray painted with high gloss white to finish them. It took 2 coats and I think I will still touch up some spots, but I really love how they came out.
They sort of look crooked in the picture, but they aren't in person! I hung them in my upstairs hallway. They are the perfect fit since the neutral color doesn't create a claustrophobic feeling when walking down the hall! Such a simple project that you could do a million different ways, it's totally worth trying!
