That's one of my favorite holiday songs! But, seriously, I hope everyone has a safe and happy and awesome holiday! I am taking a little vaca and I will be back posting first thing in the new year!
We are going to rest up. See you in 2012!
Well, the party part of the New Year at least. Here are some of the things I plan to have present at our party...
Drunkin Gummy Bears (click on the pic for the recipe)
The boardgame Quelf (I hear it is out of control).
I was looking for a new soup recipe to make since it is pretty chilly this week and I found this one on Pinterest:
Spicy Sausage Lentil Soup
I made a few adjustments, the original recipe can be found by clicking the above pic. Here are the changes I made:
*I added 2 chopped sweet potatoes at the time that I added the lentils.
*I did not use the fennel seeds.
*I served over baby spinach so that it would wilt under the heat of the soup.
The original picture looked delish, but it was lacking a little color.
So, with the spinach and the sweet potato I think it looks so much better! And it was sooooo good!
I have been trying to think of a way to display the Christmas cards that we receive in the mail. In our old home I was able to put them around the chair rail in the kitchen. That's not an option in our new home. So, I came up with a little somethin' somethin'.
You need some type of string, clothespins, removable wall hooks, scissors, and decorative stickers (I found mine in the scrapbook section at Target).
I figured out how I wanted to lay out my hooks so that my jute could hang nicely with the cards attached. I wrapped the jute around them to secure them and then used the stickers to cover the hooks. I also used some stickers on a few clothespins. After that, you hang up your holiday cards!
I strung mine going down our stairs.
I love how it turned out and it adds a little more holiday cheer to our home!
This weekend the hubby and I celebrated 1 year in our home and since we got engaged. It's crazy that it was only a year ago! Here is my date night outfit:
Top: Target (seen here in a different color), Cardi: Target (seen here), Jeans: BDG from Urban Outfitters, Heels: Zigi Soho from DSW
And I have to give an update on Benny since he just had a check-up at the vet...he's 22.2 pounds! That's about 4.5 Boo's. He is growing like crazy!
I hope everyone had a good weekend!
It's time for another Forever21 shopping bag. This one is super random!
Layered Chiffon Dress $22.80
Contrast Flare Athletic Pant $13.80
Heathered Linen Blend Tee $9.80
Slub Knit Stripes Top $12.50
Essential Extended Length Tee $7.80
I know it's an interesting bag this time! I'm loving this purple dress for one of my holiday events this year, I hope it fits right! I'm trying out the athletic pants because they have a lot of athletic gear for so cheap-I wanted to try something to see if I like it. And the rest is just so I can re-stock some of my basics. I have a very limited supply of long sleeve tops to wear-this is why all of my outfits need to be covered in a cardi. I hope you like my picks this time around!
I have always said that when we have kids they better be boys. I am a self-declared "boy mom". That is until a little over a year ago when I met the best "girl mom" ever. It is hard for me to write this post, but it is for her. Here are the essentials that every little girl must have:
Flower headbands. The bigger the better. And in every color.
Tutus and skirts. The more puffy the better. Make sure to match her flower headband of course.
Anything fun and girly. Baby's first heels, why not?
But, more important then anything you can buy in a store, little girls need a lot of love.
This post was written with love, for one of the most loved little girls I know. In memory.
Slash only husband I have ever had, but who's counting? But seriously on the old part...check this bad boy out:
Case in Point-An Electric White Hair
Ugh, me and my youth feel so bad for him. Anyways, we went to an awesome mini surprise dinner with friends. Here's a pic of my oufit cheesin' by the Christmas tree.
Dress: Forever21, Cardi: Target, Belt: Forever21, Tights: Target, Heels: Zigi Soho
That was the best pic out about 54, the rest looked something like this (I was delaying so he didn't ruin his surprise or...):
I was practicing my circus act in my new fav cardi. Anywho, I wore this dress for my work holiday party last year, so I switched it up this time around by adding a little leopard belt and a flowy black cardi.
And my fav thing of all...pockets in the dress! Happy day late bday hubs!
In the winter months I always search for the perfect dark color and the perfect neutral nail polish. I thought I would share my favs this winter, with a few other extra polish picks as well-it was hard to narrow it down!
Fav Dark Shade
Sally Hansen Plum Luck
Some of My Other Favs
I hope this can take some of the guesswork out for you!
Prepare for some Monday randomness. I don't really know how to tell you about some of these things without this random mash-up of a post. So, these are some of my favorite things (recipes, great finds, and what-nots)!
Drop everything and go get yourself some pretzels, rolos, and pecans, this is not a drill. This is real life. Serious. You will never bake another dessert again.
If you are an egg nog lover, you must try Silk's Nog. It is delish and it's so much less fat and cals then the original stuff. Just 90 calories and 2 grams of fat for half a cup!
Every once and a while Target has their Home brand picture frames. They come in all different beautiful finishes. I purchased a bunch of antiqued silver finish frames 3 years ago for my master bedroom and I still love them. I just bought a bunch more for framing some wedding photos. They are super cheap (around 5-9 bucks a frame depending on the size). If you are in the market for a bunch of frames, you can definitely decorate on the cheap with these!
I really love this Melie Bianco, Scout Mini Cross Body Bag and Belt Bag. It's the perfect sized bag for a night out or for doing your holiday shopping with! It also comes with an option to where it around your waist.
